Faffa Knoetze

Chair

Faffa graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1984 and became a fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the Institute of Actuaries in 1992. After starting his actuarial career at Sanlam in the pensions division and later as a marketing actuary in the life business, Faffa spent most of his working career at Alexander Forbes as a valuator and consulting actuary to pension and provident funds. He joined Remgro in December 2013 and focuses on the company’s interests in the financial services and sport industries. He is currently the Chair of the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS), the Stellenbosch Football Club (SFC) and the Sport Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA). Faffa represented Western Province and South Africa as a rugby player and is a co-founder of the Open Play Foundation NPC.

Mariza Lubbe

Non-Executive Director

After earning a BA degree from Stellenbosch University, Mariza served Remgro in various capacities for 25 years, including as Company Secretary, before being appointed as an executive director in September 2016. She is responsible for Remgro’s compliance and Corporate Social Investments. In her duties relating to compliance, she monitors Remgro’s responsibilities in terms of the Companies Act, the JSE Listings Requirements and King IV, as well as the proper and lawful implementation of Remgro’s corporate actions. She is a co-founder of the Open Play Foundation NPC.

Stefan Crouse

Non-Executive Director

Stefan is an Investment Executive and member of the Corporate Finance team at Remgro. With more than 15 years of experience in the wider group, he serves on the boards of various portfolio investees including the Blue Bulls Company, Kagiso Tiso Holdings, Kagiso Media, Stellenbosch Football Club, Invenfin, Asia Partners Fund I and II, Mediclinic and Capevin Spirits. Stefan is a CA (SA) and studied B. Accounting at Stellenbosch University. Before Remgro, his experience included roles at PwC, SAIL Group and Saracens in various operational, investment and strategic roles. During his time at Saracens, he was also instrumental in the running of the Saracens Foundation. He is a co-founder of the Open Play Foundation NPC.
